One of my early experiments with the Andersen-Forbes syntactical database was prompted by a quotation I read in passing in the Anchor Bible Dictionary. I can’t recall why I was re-reading the article on the Pentateuch and its sources by Richard E. Friedman, but I was struck by this statement:
