Review of New Ugaritic Grammar

Posted By on February 22, 2010

Here’s the review. I agree with Karyn, too. I have this grammar (bought it last year at SBL). It’s terrific. I’m actually entertaining the thought of offering an online Ugaritic class with it for those who have completed my first year Hebrew course (now in progress) and who have a strong grasp of the material, and for those who already know biblical Hebrew well. It would be a fun exercise. I’d really need a better font than I have, though.

Also thinking about doing the same with Aramaic or Middle Egyptian. We’ll see.

I would be in for Aramaic and Ugaritic. Maybe not for Egyptian though.

I really wish you would. I would jump all over this.

You sit 4 feet from the Zebul Open font designer, so if that font doesn’t suit your pedagogical needs and you haven’t told him what you want, you only have yourself to blame. 😉

I was interested to read your ruminations about teaching Ugaritic online. Is that likely to come to fruition? If so, when? Does the Hebrew University currently offer Ugaritic online?
