I once said in a doctoral seminar that I thought a course in logic should be a pre-requisite for graduation for every biblical studies scholar. I didn’t make many friends that day. But it’s a real need. A number of “tried and true” consensus conclusions are more propagandistic in their argumentation than logically coherent. The academy is far from immune to herd mentality.
