I don’t know for sure what happened at Socorro, but the scenario outlined in that post does not sound any more plausible than aliens or top secret air craft. In fact, it seems rather far-fetched when you consider the exact planning needed to make it come off just right and the dangers of such a prank (explosives and hot air balloons seldom mix).
