It's not name calling to point out bad thinking. What else am I supposed to do -- just say "well, we agree to disagree"? Poor thinking is still poor thinking, no matter how nice the guy is. I'll find the typo - and I never object to people pointing them out. The point isn't perfection; it's coherence.
