UFOs and Politics
August 24, 2008 on 8:45 pm | In ExoPolitics, ExoTheology | 1 CommentI’m not going to go off on an exo-politics trajectory, but in view of the recent discussion, here’s a recent example.
Getting Re-Kickstarted with a Bang
August 5, 2008 on 11:05 am | In Alien Abduction, ExoTheology, UFOs as Folklore | 7 CommentsIf you’re following this blog you may have had two recent thoughts: (1) Mike’s time is being spent more on replying to comments than blogging; and (2) the comments are drifting away from the UFO theme.
Agree on both counts. Now for the remedy.
One of the stated goals of this blog was to introduce readers to peer-reviewed scholarship that in some way relates to UFOs (or re-introduce for some - I’m guessing the minority). To that end I am posting the following two articles for readers to read, as I’ll be commenting on them in the very near future (I’ll give you all a couple days to read them). The first is self-explanatory. The second will raise some eyebrows and prompt the question of how it relates to UFOs and religion. Oh … it does. This one won’t make me any new friends in the UFO community. In the immortal words of Richard Hoagland, “stay tuned.”

Second Video on John Lamb Lash’s “Gnostic Archons are Alien Greys” Idea
July 18, 2008 on 12:27 pm | In ExoTheology | No CommentsFor those readers of this blog who aren’t subscribing to my other blog, PaleoBabble, just wanted to alert you that my second video about Lash’s theory is up. It’s a large file, so high speed is a must. Just under 18 minutes.
John Lamb Lash’s “Gnostic Archons = the Greys” Theory
July 16, 2008 on 8:15 pm | In Ancient Astronauts, ExoTheology, UFO Religions | No CommentsI’ve blogged about this recently over at my other blog, PaleoBabble. Part 1 was a sort of intro to the theory. Part 2 features a video of me searching the Nag Hammadi Gnostic texts (in digital form) for the terms Lash says are in the Gnostic texts that describe archons as “neonates” or “fetal” — the way the Greys appear. Part 3 will likely be posted tonight, where I get to feature a Gnostic text that explicitly denies Lash’s theory. What a surprise.
Conservative Christian Ufology and Other Views: How Can a Joint Dialogue Be Advanced?
July 15, 2008 on 11:06 pm | In ExoTheology | 34 CommentsThe comments to my post about Stopping Abductions through prayer has me asking myself where the dialogue goes from here (or, from Roswell 2008). It’s not an easy question. I think there is a willingness on both sides to dialogue, but the issues (obstacles?) are significant:
1. Would any UFO conference deem the dialogue to be appropriate for hosting (or even tolerating)?
2. What is to be gained? It’s one thing to be able to sit down and express alternative views, but is there a specific goal beyond sitting and talking?
3. How many UFO researchers out there really care about the religious element?
4. Having been party to several such discussion, formal and informal, there is a fundamental problem with terminology. Each position tends to use terms like “spiritual”; “metaphysical”; “God”; “belief”; “religion”; “alien”; and “Christian” in different ways. Without some sort of pre-understanding, the dialogue may not only accomplish little, but may be unintelligible.
Any suggestions?
