For all of you who have emailed me (some breathlessly) about the UFO hovering over the Dome of the Rock a few days ago, I have three requests:
1) Watch this and learn a few things to look for to detect similar hoaxing in the future. The hoaxing techniques are clever, but easy to detect for people who know what to look for.
2) Instead of believing first and then engaging in critical thinking or analysis, reverse that process. It will be good for both of us.
3) Don’t email me about any other UFO events until you spend a few days or a couple weeks doing #2.
Sorry, no Bible-UFO prophecies fulfilled today (or a couple days ago).
Honestly, it’s embarrassing how we simply can’t seem to suspend belief on these things long enough to pause and think, and to wait for people within the interested UFO community with video and graphic skills to do their thing. I don’t have those skills, but I’m blessed with a mind that doesn’t like gaps in coherence. My first thought was, why is it, that in this place — arguably the worst hot spot in the world — that (a) we don’t have a single mainstream news report of this and (b) we don’t have DOZENS of videos and stills for it? And before you say the mainstream media would cover it up, get real — they reported the O’Hare UFO, the recent Utah lights, and all the odd “vortexes” in Norway (just some examples). The mainstream may make light of it, but they WILL report something if enough people come forward with an event. You can bet your gluteus maximus that a bright flash of light on the temple mount of all places would draw media attention. Or a riot. It’s a powder keg.
Pardon me for yawning.
Julian Assange and Wikileaks, dutifully serving the Obama administration’s goal of embarrassing the president’s most serious Democratic presidential rival, Hillary Clinton, has said that he will release UFO-related documents found in his government cache of illegally obtained documents. Another yawn.
Here’s my prediction (putting my Great Karnak hat on … there it is). The secret documents will reveal:
1. That there have been UFO reports (old news there; check).
2. That the government has shown an interest in some of those reports and sought to identify the UFO (old news there; check).
3. That certain government and military officials don’t know what some of the UFOs are (old news there; check).
In a nutshell, these documents will sound like all the other ones. Now for some small-c conspiracy thoughts.
I wonder how we can tell if they are authentic? Think about it. Can we really trust Wikileaks? Are they agenda-less? (I’m chuckling now, not yawning). Further, who could possibly verify that Assange or anyone else down the chain have not altered them? Is the government going to step in and say, “well, that’s right, except for this line in this paragraph; we deny that.” They could, but could we trust them?
This is, frankly speaking, the inescapable world of ufology. Anyone can (and will) say anything to cast suspicion (and it’s to be taken seriously since it has such a poor — or good — record of disinformation).
No idea what’s going to be said or revealed. Supposedly the conference deals with “an astrobiological finding” that will have an impact on the search for ET life. You can watch it on NASA-TV (1 pm Central). Here’s the link.
A commenter on this blog pointed me to a review of Mirage Men that he has written. I decided to link to it so you could all read it.
UFO Mystic reports that, according to a former Air Force officer who’s pushing his new book, a massive UFO revelation will occur tomorrow over the world’s leading cities. The revelation must happen now, lest we run out of timing to save the planet from man-made global warming. I’ve put it on my Google Calendar so I don’t miss it.
Whence comes this important revelation? You may be surprised: the AF officer got from the aliens (called the “Transcenders” [or was it the Transformers?] mediated of course “through the services of a world renowned channeler.” To quote Howard Dean, yyyeeeaaaahhhhhh!!
But of course our officer and author drew upon “his military experience with the UFO phenomenon dating back to WW2, and later, with NORAD and his subsequent life-long association with a senior NORAD intelligence officer who provided him a wealth of historical data relating to NORAD’s experience with the UFO/alien reality which has never been revealed to the public.”
Could I just say something?
Please, all of you reading this, remember this post the next time some nutcase UFO researcher touts a witness or visionary who has Air Force credentials. Wearing the Air Force uniform does not insulate the wearer from being a witless crank. Most of you know I’m very pro-U.S. military, and this guy brings shame to the uniform. Channeled BS — AGAIN–coming from the UFO “research” community. And I guess his book was written before the exposure of global warming as pseudo-science. Maybe it was a rogue alien race, locked in a deadly struggle with the “Transcenders,” trying to make it only look like global warming stands on fabricated, skewered science. Hmmm.
Oh, and one other thing. Next time some UFO enthusiast promoting the idea that spiritual approaches to the UFO/alien question are hopelessly naive and not based on rational inquiry, send them this link.
