What You Should Know About Ufology

During the last seven years, I’ve spent time with or met many of the leading figures in UFO research. Unfortunately, I’ve learned that most UFO researchers are anything but objective, and some have a difficult time processing a person like me–someone who really doesn’t care how it all turns out. Theologically, I have no problem with ET life, should that ever turn out to be verified. Frankly, that would be cool. But I need REAL evidence; not speculation or even educated guesses. Most of what passes for evidence in ufology is not submitted to peer review, or goes under the “the one that got away” category. It is self-styled and aimed at perpetuating a particular view. Sometimes there are understandable reasons for that, such as a very personal experience, but the result is still the same. UFO researchers often cannot admit that having an experience and processing the experience correctly are two distinct things. On the other side, there are those in my own theological tradition (Christianity) who are equally closed to the notion that there is more than one way to process all this, and inject some less-than-coherent biblical research into ufology. That is equally problematic. This blog is aimed at sharing my observations and giving readers access to sound, academic research (most of it peer-reviewed) on the mystery of UFOs and the question of ET life, especially as it relates to religion. Along the way, I’ll also share my opinion on whose UFO research in other areas isn’t a waste of your time.
